Golden Triangle Chapter
Chief Petty Officer's Association

A Message from the President...

January 24, 20012 by MSTCS Matt Valenti

Hello everyone.  Welcome to The Golden Triangle Chapter's Website.  I would like to first thank our past chapter officers for the amazing job they did in 2011.  I hope we can uphold their positive outlook, maintain our commitment to the community, and continue to help out those in need.

We will continue our meetings on the third Thursday of the month at 1400 hours in our new Chief's Mess at MSU Port Arthur.  If the meeting location changes, we will get the word out as soon as possible.

Please feel free to contact us if there is anything we can do for you.

We hope to see you at the meetings - we will be doing good things in 2012!

CPOA National Elections - Deadline for voting is March 14, 2012

All,
You may have received or will soon receive your "The Chief" magazine with your ballot to vote for national officers.  First off, I highly encourage everyone to take the few seconds it takes to complete the ballot and mail it off.  Other than the difficulty of neatly tearing the page out of the magazine the voting process is extremely easy.  Second, since attending the last two national conventions, I've had the opportunity to meet and get to know all of the candidates.  If you have any questions about anyone running for office, please let me know and I'll be happy to discuss.  They are all great people who would bring various skill sets to our organization.  Thank you and I hope to see you on the 16th at 1400!

On Friday, November 11, 2011, the CPOA Golden Triangle Chapter (GTC) held a Veteran's Day flag raising ceremony at the Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles.  Along with numerous eager volunteers from CG MSU Lake Charles,  GTC members posted American flags used for draping over military caskets around the Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA.  "It's important for us to represent the Coast Guard in the community and pay tribute to military veterans who have fought for the freedoms that allow us to live as we do," said MSTC Christopher Ellison.  In all, over 870 flags were displayed in the largest single collection of casket flags in the nation.
